At Geneva Boat Charter, the safety of our guests and captains is always our priority. Weather on Lake Geneva can change quickly and may vary significantly across different areas of the lake. We do our best to provide every scheduled charter while making reasonable accommodations when weather conditions interfere with your trip.
If Geneva Boat Charter determines that weather or lake conditions make it unsafe or unreasonable to operate your scheduled charter, your booking will receive a rain check credit for the full amount paid toward the charter. This credit may be applied toward rescheduling your charter for another available date.
Rain check credits are not cash refunds and have no cash value. Rescheduled charters are subject to availability and any applicable price difference for the new date or charter selected.
Weather decisions are made by Geneva Boat Charter as close to the scheduled departure time as reasonably possible based on actual and developing conditions. Forecasts alone do not constitute a weather cancellation.
Cloudy skies, cooler temperatures, brief or scattered rain, or a guest's personal preference not to participate do not automatically qualify for a rain check. When practical, Geneva Boat Charter may delay the departure time to allow temporary or localized weather to pass.
Guests who would prefer the security of a monetary refund may purchase Weather Refund Protection for $100 per booking.
If Weather Refund Protection was purchased and Geneva Boat Charter determines that qualifying weather or lake conditions prevent the charter from safely operating, the guest will receive a 100% refund of the amount paid for the charter, excluding the $100 Weather Refund Protection fee and any separately identified non-refundable fees.
Weather Refund Protection must be purchased at the time of booking and cannot be added after a qualifying weather event, watch, warning, or adverse forecast has developed. The $100 Weather Refund Protection fee itself is non-refundable.
Qualifying conditions may include severe thunderstorms, lightning, dangerously high winds or waves, severe weather warnings affecting the charter area, unsafe visibility, or other weather or lake conditions that Geneva Boat Charter determines make operation unsafe.
Weather Refund Protection does not provide a refund simply because rain is forecast, because weather is less desirable than expected, or because a guest independently decides not to participate while Geneva Boat Charter determines the charter can safely operate.
Weather conditions can develop quickly and may be isolated to certain areas of Lake Geneva. If a charter has already begun and Geneva Boat Charter or the captain determines that localized or developing weather conditions require the charter to end early for safety, guests who purchased Weather Refund Protection will receive a prorated refund for the unused portion of their scheduled charter time.
The prorated refund will be based on the remaining unused charter time at the time Geneva Boat Charter or the captain determines the charter must end due to qualifying weather conditions.
For example, if a four-hour charter must be ended after two hours because of qualifying weather conditions, Weather Refund Protection would provide a refund for the remaining two hours of charter time.
The $100 Weather Refund Protection fee remains non-refundable.
A voluntary decision by the guest or group to return to the dock early does not qualify for a prorated refund unless Geneva Boat Charter or the captain has determined that qualifying weather conditions require the charter to end early.
Because weather on Lake Geneva can be temporary or localized, Geneva Boat Charter may reasonably delay a charter or temporarily seek safe conditions when appropriate. When practical, we will work with guests on a delayed departure or other reasonable accommodation before determining that a charter cannot operate.
If conditions ultimately prevent the charter from operating:
Without Weather Refund Protection: The guest receives a rain check credit for the qualifying charter amount to use toward a future booking.
With Weather Refund Protection: The guest receives a monetary refund of the qualifying charter amount, excluding the non-refundable $100 Weather Refund Protection fee and any separately identified non-refundable fees.
If a charter begins but must be ended early due to qualifying weather conditions, the prorated monetary refund for unused charter time applies only to bookings with Weather Refund Protection.
For the safety of everyone involved and to ensure consistent application of this policy, Geneva Boat Charter and its captains make the final determination regarding whether weather or lake conditions prevent a charter from safely operating or require a charter already underway to end early.
A guest choosing to cancel, not participate, or end their charter early when Geneva Boat Charter has not determined that qualifying weather conditions prevent continued operation will be treated as a guest cancellation and will be subject to our standard cancellation policy.
By completing a reservation, guests acknowledge and agree to the applicable weather, cancellation, rain check, and Weather Refund Protection terms in effect at the time of booking.
